Was it the only one?

I was looking for information about the XJ-S when I came across this advertisement at www.jag-lovers.com.
"The XJ-S is unrivaled in the smooth thrust of power generated by its advanced V-12 engine, the only V-12 available in America."

1982 Jaguar XJ-S pamphlet
That made me wonder if it was really true. You would think that Lamborghini and Ferarri were offering V-12 engines then. But with the energy crunch of the 70's still affecting the economy, maybe Jaguar was the only one. In other words, having that distinction may not have been advantageous at the time ("Or now," said the man with the empty wallet.).
